October is LGBTQ+ History Month, and we are organizing events to celebrate throughout the month.

Altadena Halloween Caravan

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Grocery Outlet Parking Lot
2270 Lake Ave.

Halloween is almost here. . .

Saturday, October 26th we will meet in Grocery Outlet parking lot at 7:00 pm
.

Shortly after that, we will hand out the evening's haunted map and then commence a vehicle caravan to few local haunts!  Haunts that range from original creations by residents to haunted spots around our beautiful town.

Costumes are encouraged but totally optional.

If a "trunk or treat" component sounds good, please feel free to come a little early to set up!  We will all happily stroll around to each other's vehicle to collect treats.

The evening is expect to run 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Come join us for a reading of local playwright Jon Courie's original work, Carry the Child. The story revolves around a lesbian daughter coming to grips with her terminal cancer and unresolved longstanding family conflicts.

Join us for the Altadena Pride Walkabout!

Altadena Pride returns for a walk through Altadena celebrating the LGBTQ+ community's pride, power and unity on Saturday, June 8, 2024

The walk will originate at the Altadena Library at 10:00 a.m., winding through the center of Altadena with 3 events along the way, and culminating at the Altadena Senior Center for the days final event.

Each event exists as a stand-alone so participants are welcome to join for the whole tour or meet us for any individual element they are drawn to.

    10:00 a.m. OPENING CEREMONY - Altadena Library

    Held at the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St., Supervisor Kathryn Barger will open the day with a celebration on the east lawn.  Participants will be provided with swag bags and free handheld flags. Walkabout begins at 10:30 a.m.

    10:30 a.m. SHOP AND WAVE - Mariposa Junction

    Shopping event in and around Mariposa Junction and the north Lake Shops from Altadena Drive south to E Calaveras St.  Participants will take part in an incredible celebratory "reverse parade" flag waving event along North Lake.

    11:30 a.m. SPIRITUAL EXPLORATION - Altadena Baptist Church

    Altadena Baptist Church, 791 East Calaveras St., hosts a welcoming and inclusive exploration of spirituality and acceptance. All are welcome and a wide array of spiritual and meditative practices from throughout Altadena will be represented.

    12:30 p.m. FREE COMMUNITY PICNIC - Triangle Park

    Free picnic in Triangle Park, 800 E. Altadena Dr., catered by three local restaurants and celebrating family in every sense of the word.

    2 p.m. - 6 p.m. PRIDE FESTIVAL - Altadena Senior Center

    At the Altadena Senior Center, 560 E. Mariposa St., this event will include an art gallery with an interactive station for all ages, guest speakers and dignitaries, performance area, resource tables, Youth Sanctuary, LGBTQ+ Education Fair, and a couple incredible surprise installations for 2024!

Throughout the day there will be appearances and speeches by:

    • State Senator Anthony Portantino
    • 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger
    • Altadena Town Council Chair Victoria Knapp, and multiple members of the Altadena Town Council.

Beginning in early May and thanks to the generosity of sponsors, we have created a Free Flag Project designed to fill Altadena with displays of inclusive love and support.  Just pop into Webster's Community Pharmacy and ask for your free Pride flag.
